About the MD40 Main Icons
:-) 40 :^) 40 :) 40 8) 40 8-) 40 B-) 40 :-O 40 8*)
The MD40 main icons (and the associated small icons) were prepared by
Leigh Murray, based on a fractal produced by George Knight's Fun Fractals
program on MD38.
The picture was in 16-colours. This was reduced to eight colours and
remapped somewhat to suit the default 8-colour Workbench 2 colours. Then
sections were snipped out of the image as brushes in a Paint program, and
imported into IE icon editor to assemble the final icons. Some of the
colours were swapped around in the small icons to give a better effect (IE
has a useful colour swapping facility which makes this easy).
This issue
All the icons on this issue are 8 colours, to jazz up your Workbench, so
to find out more about them and how to use them and how to make them, look
at the tutorial in the Tutes_&_CLI drawer.
The icons are read made for MagicWB users and so look best on systems
using this public domain package (available from us, MISC 180). A lot of
icons were changed by Steve Bolton to "customise" for MegaDisc and/or
increase the visual effect of existing icons for MagicWB. The icons in
the art gallery were created using a locked palette and rescaling of the
original picture then saved out as icons using ImageFX V1.50.
